Tamara Peters    *    tamara@familypianoacademy.com

Tamara began her teaching career as an elementary music teacher, spending a majority of her time working with grades K-2. After seven years, Tamara left the classroom to become a private piano and voice teacher. Her experience in the classroom has helped her develop strategies to help young children understand complex music theory concepts. Games and hands-on activities are used to practice rhythm and note-reading and students are taught strategies for practicing at home. Read Tamara's full bio on the staff page.

group piano lessons raleigh class

STRUCTURE

Group piano lessons are one hour in length and serve 4-6 students. Group lessons utilize a teaching console that allows each student to hear any combination of his or her piano, the teacher piano, the teacher microphone, and the other students' pianos. These features enable both distraction free practice time and the opportunity to play in an ensemble setting.

MIDI ASSEssOR

We recently launched a feature on the practice portal that allows you to plug your keyboard into a computer. The program will listen to your playing and offer instant feedback!

It also includes settings that allow you to adjust the tempo, play only small sections of a song, or practice hands separately.

Not only is this a great tool for at-home practice — it’s a game changer for group instruction. Students continue to get accurate feedback during independent practice time so the instructor can rotate around the class and offer individualized help to students.
